Posted: August 23, 2019
Executive Director Rodney Gustafson, Associate Director Leila Drake, Director of Education Cecily Stewart, and Company Manager Denise Grimm are attending the WAA Conference at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles. This annual conference hosts presenters, artists, and agents from around the globe with the shared goal of booking live arts performances. The four-day schedule is jam-packed with exhibits, performances, networking, speakers, classes and workshops, as well as opportunities for professional enrichment. State Street Ballet’s staff and artist representative Rachel Cohen will be presenting State Street Ballet’s repertoire for engagements through the 2020-2021 season. This year, eleven Pacific Rim countries with dedicated interests in American performance will be visiting as delegates of Performing Arts Discovery, they include: Australia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, New Zealand, and Paraguay. PAD is a program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional support by the Mellon Foundation. This program’s purpose is to showcase U.S. companies and performing artists to international presenters and to broaden opportunities overseas.
After Labor Day, Leila and Rachel will also be attending Arts Midwest Conference, “the preeminent booking and education conference for the Midwest performing arts industry,” in Minneapolis, MN.
